Great Valley is dedicated to missions

His last words drive our missions focus.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age - Matthew 28:19-20

Below are profiles of selected Great Valley missionaries.

Greg & Betsy Aikins

Iceland field leaders, based in U.S.

"Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear"

Philippians 1:27

Greater Europe Mission exists to see all peoples of greater Europe become followers of Jesus who in turn help others to find and follow Jesus and develop churches that reproduce themselves organically. Greg and Betsy seek to serve as catalysts for a movement in Iceland where followers of Jesus are by nature those who are helping others to find and follow Jesus. We are working to mobilize prayer for Iceland in North America by building on the disciple-making work we have already done by: producing discipleship material, encouraging the formation of new disciple making groups and connecting with leaders, disciples and those who have yet to come to Christ via phone, Skype and frequent personal visits. Our vision: A movement of God where it is natural for Jesus’ followers to be actively involved in helping others to follow Jesus until Iceland is full of the knowledge of the glory of God. (Habakkuk 2:14)

"Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Liz Loeffler

International

"And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others."

II Timothy 2:2

Entrust trains indigenous men and women to equip others through biblical leadership training that is accessible financially, geographically, culturally and educationally. Women-to-Women Ministry Training within Entrust, equips females to serve in shepherd roles in mission and in the local church. We work with missionaries and expatriate women on international fields as well as local leaders throughout the world. On November 1, 1989, I stepped off the plane in Vienna, Austria, to begin a twenty-six year adventure. Currently, I am involved with training women in a “creative access country” and despite many challenges, we are moving forward with translating the Entrust materials into the local language. Women make up 70-80% of the congregations in this part of the world so it presents an amazing opportunity to spread God’s word.

Mike and Elisabeth

Pioneers

"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us…"

Ephesians 3:20

Pioneers' passion has been to see God glorified among those who are physically and spiritually isolated from the gospel of Jesus Christ. Today, 2.9 billion people live among languages and cultures with no church. In response, Pioneers sends church-planting teams to serve among these 7000-plus people groups. After years of service in southeast Asia, Mike and Elisabeth now work at the US Mobilization Base where Mike serves as HR Coordinator for Field Members and Child Safety Case Manager. Elisabeth serves in Family Resources as a consultant to families and kids overseas. She and her team develop and run programs for TCKs (Third Culture Kids, growing up in a foreign culture) offering resources, educational consulting, and emotional support that helps families thrive in challenging circumstances on the field.

Charlie and Ruth Patton

Remote overseas locations

"He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it."

1st Thesalonians 5:24

Millions of men, women and children in thousands of tribes around the world have no access to the gospel. Many live in remote, hard-to-reach places- places where a flight ministry is vital.

New Tribes Mission Aviation is an important part of the church planting teams working among unreached people groups. In order to bring God’s light to tribal people, missionaries need access to them. They are grateful for the pilots and people who maintain the aircraft, load them properly and schedule flights. This saves them countless hours they would otherwise spend on dangerous river travel and hiking for days, not to mention the wear and tear on their bodies. The plane not only provides safe, quick transportation, it brings supplies so the missionaries can stay on location longer learning culture, language, doing translation, teaching and making disciples. The plane is used to encourage and support this process in the form of bringing in language consultants, literacy materials printed up from the missionary’s work and it is also used in medical emergencies.

Charlie and Ruth have served with NTM Aviation in Mexico, Colombia, Papua New Guinea and Brazil. They are now on staff at the NTM Aviation, the support center for all NTM’s overseas flight programs. Advanced training for qualified pilots and mechanics is provided to prepare them for the unique challenges that come with flying and maintaining aircraft in remote areas of the world. Charlie and Ruth continue to travel overseas, as well.

Jonathan, Sharon & Vera Penz

Alaska

“... He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Jesus Christ."

Philippians 1:6

KAKO Retreat Center provides Christ-centered retreats, youth camps, workshops, seminars, and counseling to encourage and help the people living in the remote villages of Alaska. Within an 80 mile radius there are 24 villages and within 160 mile radius, there are 56 villages. Since the area is so isolated and has virtually no road system, the primary means of transportation is by airplane. Vera, with her late husband Dave, founded the facility in 1989. She is responsible for managing the office while Jonathan and his wife Sharon are responsible for facility operations. Jonathan and Sharon join the efforts to pioneer and maintain the Kako vision and seek to build into the ministry’s future. Jonathan is Kako’s chief pilot, a musician, a diesel mechanic by trade and Alumni of Moody Bible Institute.

Greg Porter

Greater Philadelpia Area

"For what does it profit a man, to gain the whole world and forfeit his soul?"

Mark 8:36

The Daniel Foundation derives its name from the book of Daniel, in which God’s people were faithful to Yahweh while in exile, living in foreign land filled with foreign deities. Because God’s greatest commandment, to “love one’s neighbor as oneself,” is tDf's greatest concern, we walk alongside men from every location on the spiritual spectrum, offering our presence, support and timely service as they journey through life’s many peaks and valleys.

Some men are best aided by providing a quiet setting in which to stop, settle and think out loud about relational, vocational or parental dilemmas they face. This happens in one-on-one and in small group settings. Still other men, who are spiritually alert but religiously disillusioned, seek help in developing a more meaningful relationship with Christ, or perhaps becoming (re)connected to a church. Still others need assistance as they explore the Christian faith, in a serious way, for the first time. I cannot thank GVPC enough for their generous and enduring partnership without which, this mission would not be possible.

Rich V

India and Bhutan

"What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."

2nd Timothy 2:2

The goal of BEE World is to help the church fulfill the Great Commission by providing Biblical training that multiplies competent servant leaders in restricted access countries. These leaders and pastors want this training, but cannot go to a seminary or Bible college in their setting. BEE World uses a proven Bible-based curriculum that equips the leaders to understand Scripture more profoundly, to do their job better, and to train others also. The result is multiplying churches with greater Biblical depth and soundness. (Note: BEE = Biblical Education by Extension).

Rich serves as a Course Facilitator and “commutes” four times a year to India and Bhutan to bring the Bible college to the students. The students are pastors, church-planters, or women’s ministry leaders, almost all first-generation converts. They study the course materials in their own language and also teaches them to train groups of other leaders. Rich lives near Denver, Colorado with his wife, Becky, and his adult children, Ian and Chris. Rich grew up at Great Valley and his parents, Peter and Isabelle, were active members.

Mark and Anne Marie Winz

Orlando, Florida

"All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God."

2 Corinthians 4:15

Cru’s purpose is to help build spiritual movements everywhere, so everyone knows someone who truly follows Jesus. Mark and Anne Marie (above, with Michael and Bethany) each have more than 30 years of publishing experience. They help build disciples through online communities and publications. Anne Marie coordinates two online communities, one for Cru’s staff women worldwide and one for those who love and pray for a prodigal—that is, a person who is making destructive choices for their own lives. Mark serves as an editor for Cru’s primary website, Cru.org, and for other print and digital publications. They also teach Writing for Life classes, training writers for Christian organizations. In the past, both have served as writers, correspondents from Asia and editors for Worldwide Challenge and other publications.
